It is the season of miracles:
the miracle of oil in the ancient temple
where one days' oil burned for eight days.
Miracle of days getting longer,
the light returning.
Miracle of the mother:
Guadalupe, Mary, and our Earth goddess
who surrounds us.
Miracle of my sister in law Gloria
whose tremors have disappeared.
Miracle of a great grand son
born to my cousin Blanka,
a Holocaust survivor.
Miracle of waking up each day to life,
blood flowing through every limb
in my body.
Miracle of day becoming night
and night becoming day.
If all these miracles can happen,
why not a miracle of peace
throughout the world?
